Raynsway Adopt New Hedgerow Policy

Maintaining hedgerows are not as simple as some people might think.  The criteria specified in the Hedgerows Regulations 1997 specify that the regulations be used to identify important hedgerows for wildlife, landscape or historical reasons and brings with it many legal aspects.

Raynsway therefore have adopted a new hedgerow maintenance policy in order to protect the wildlife within the hedgerows. For example, many birds use these for nesting and it is for this reason that trimming should be avoided between 1 March and 31 July as this is the main nesting season.   They are also a source of food for many birds and a natural habitat for insects.
