Facilities Management Magazine Publish Passivhaus Case Study

The February edition of the Facilities Management Magazine recently published a case study on Raynsway’s new building at Watermead Business Park in Syston.   Interserve occupy the new Passivhaus building and in conjunction with Raynsway set out to construct the UK’s first zero carbon office using the German concept of Passivhaus.

Facilities Magazine’s Doug Morrison recently undertook a tour of the building and in doing so wrote a comprehensive case study detailing the reduction of energy costs and highlighting the many technical aspects in constructing such a building.

Managing Director of Raynsway Tom Watkinson said that “energy efficiency was of interest” but not only did the building have to be economical it also had to be attractive.  John Walkerdine of Interserve says “we’ve got much better working conditions here and something that we dare to bring clients into, at the same price we are paying for somewhere we were embarrassed to bring anybody back to” and in conclusion added “energy costs are going up and up.  It really was a no brainer”.
